Fallen Pecan Tree

Hauling Pecan Tree Logs

In the unfortunate circumstance of the recent tornado outbreak in North Carolina and other southern states, this beautiful Pecan tree was uprooted.  I have been fortuanate enough to receive part of it by removing it from an elderly ladies yard in Raleigh, NC.

Pecan and other hickory woods are rated as the number three hardwood group in the United States. It falls behind only black walnut and black cherry in terms of value.
Carya illinoensis has close-grained, hard wood that is pale reddish-brown with occasional dark streaks.

Pecan when turned…is durable, stable and takes on a beautiful finish. It makes beautiful bowls, vessels, cutting boards and other projects.  I am thrilled to be able to use this wood for future woodworking projects and to know this beautiful wood will not go without notice and end up in a landfill or other insignificant area.

Red Cedar Mortar & Pestle

We were delighted when asked to do a custom order for a Mortar & Pestle!
It is to be used as a continuance of one that has been used by a family for generations!
The 85 year old Mortar & Pestle was past down to the women in this family for 85 years.

I can't even express how good it is to know that something I have created will be used by this family and my work was valued as such!  Thank you Delilah!
